CentOS 5.6 已经发布了，它是 CentOS 5 系列第6个更新版本。虽然官方还没有正式公布发布消息，不过镜像服务器里已经有了 CentOs 5.6 的 ISO 镜像文件了。RHEL 6 也出来有些时日了，CentOS 6 还迟迟没有来到。
CentOS 是 RHEL（Red Hat Enterprise Linux）源代码再编译的产物的免费版，它继承了 Red Hat Linux 的稳定性，而且又提供免费更新。因此，它在全球IDC服务器中是装机量最大的一个 Linux 发行版。
